Attractions in Pyay


PYAY

Lies on a sharp bend in the Ayeyarwady River. Nearby are the ruins of the ancient Pyu capital of Thayekhittaya and it has been the center of the most intensive archaeological work in Myanmar for much of the last 100 years.

SEHTATGYL

Named 'Big Ten-Storey', with an enormous seated Buddha figure rising up from the tree line.

SHWESANDAW PAYA

Located in the center of the town, a lift takes visitors from street level to the elevated main stupa platform, which is perched on top of a hill. The zedi purportedly contains a couple of Buddha hairs.
