VISA

 

Certain temporary visitors to Thailand traveling on holiday are exempted from applying for entry visas, and can stay for a maximum of 30 and 90 days in the country. They must be of one of the following nationalities and holding a valid passport or appropriate travel documents issued by that country:

Certain temporary visitors traveling on holiday can stay for a maximum of 15 days in Thailand, and may obtain an official stamp from an immigration officer upon arrival.

APPLICATION FEE for visa upon arrival is 300 BAHT.

 

Visitors to Thailand may obtain visas upon arrival at the following ports of entry:

 

  1. The Bangkok International Airport
  2. The Chiang Mai International Airport
  3. The Phuket International Airport
  4. The Hat Yai International Airport

 

They must also have a fully paid ticket, which enables them to travel out of the Kingdom within the stipulated time.

 

NOTE: A photograph and the necessary fee must accompany the visa application form.

 

Validity of Visas: All visas are valid for a 90-day period from the date of issue.

 

Length of stay

 

Transit Visa                        30 days

Tourist Visa                         60 days

Non-Immigrant Visa         90 days

 

NOTE: Please check the period of stay stamped in your passport by the immigration officer. Overstay - the fined of 200 Baht for each day overstayed will be collected at the time of departure.

 

Visa extensions

 

                Apply for extensions of stay at the Immigration Office in Bangkok. Fee is 500 Baht.

 

RE-ENTRY permits

 

                Application fee for a single re-entry permit is 500 Baht.

 


Persons meeting the above conditions are exempted from visa and are permitted to remain in the Kingdom for a period not exceeding 30 days, except for the nationals of the Republic of Brazil, Korea and New Zealand and Peru, who are permitted to stay in Thailand for maximum 90 days from the days of entry.

Money

CURRENCY
  • The currency of Thailand is Baht. All goods and services should be paid for in Baht. Baht is divided into 100 Satang. "Copper" coins are valued at 25 and 50 Satang. Silver coins are in denominations of 1,2 and 5 Baht. Bank notes are valued at 10 Baht (brown), 20 Baht (green), 50 Baht (blue), 100 Baht (red), 500 Baht (purple) and 1000 Baht (khaki)

    TRAVELLERS CHEQUES
  • US dollar traveller cheques can be conveniently cashed at all provincial banks and authorized moneychangers. Traveller cheques in other currencies are best changed in Bangkok where better rates prevail. Most foreign currencies and traveller cheques are easily changed at banks, hotels or moneychangers. Exchange facilities for cash and travellers cheques are available in banks, hotels, and foreign exchange booths located in tourist areas.

    CREDIT CARDS
  • All major international credit cards, such as American Express, Diners Club, Visa and Master card are widely accepted by major banks, restaurants, hotels and shops.

    Time Zone
  • Standard time in Vietnam is 6 hours ahead of Central European Time (CET), 7 hours ahead of GMT, 12 hours ahead of time in New York, 3 hours behind time in Sydney.
