Pick up from the airport or hotel in Pakse. Transfer to boat pier, cruise on board with the Vat Phou boat.

 

VAT PHOU BOAT: a 34 meter steel hull barge that’s been converted into a floating hotel, the Vat Phou was launched in Vientiane / Laos in 1993. The boat has 12 air-conditioned cabins, a large front deck with a wide-open area for relaxation and a lower deck with an air-conditioned restaurant.

Setting off in the morning by local long tail riverboat for Champasak. A riverside lunch is served upon arrival in Champasak. Then a guided tour of the pre-Angkorian tenth century temple of Vat Phou. As dusk falls board the Vat Phou boat for a relaxing cruise downriver, enjoying the tropical sunset. Dinner and overnight on board.

After breakfast on board, Cruise with Vat Phou; enjoy watching river life, villages and fishermen during the morning’s cruise that stops at Oub Muong to visit an ancient Khmer sanctuary hidden in the tropical forest.

Lunch on board, continue the cruise to the area of '4,000 Islands' and visit Khong Island.

Day 3     Mekong / on board – Khong Island – Khon Island - Pakse

Cruise on board the Vat Phou and back to Pakse, cruise around the waters of Khong Island and cruise around the 4,000 islands. Then a trip by road follows to the spectacular roaring falls of Phapheng. After that continue journey by small long tail boat to Khon Island which might allow you a glimpse of the rare Irrawaddy freshwater dolphin. Lunch and sightseeing at Khon Island. Afternoon, return to Pakse by vehicle. (This 3-day cruise may also be operated in the reverse direction).
