The provincial capital is some 490 kilometers north of Bangkok. The province is best known for its scenic beauty. Wat Phra Thaen Sila At, Wat Phra Yun Buddha Bhat Yukhon and a Cultural Center at the Governor's residence are the major attractions in the provincial capital. Rural attractions include the scenic Sirikit Dam, the world's largest teak tree in Amphoe Nam Pat, the Mae Phun waterfall, the Nam Phi Sword-making Village in Amphoe Thong Saen Kham. Each year during early September, the provincial capital hosts a Langsat Fair to celebrate the popular local fruit.
